Melbourne, June, 2009. Animal Avenue made its debut with a stunning Spring/Summer 2009/10 collection for women who ooze confidence and certainly consider themselves directional. Sexiness, glamour, rock ‘n’ roll and a tongue in cheek sense of humour are just some of the elements that contribute to Animal Avenue’s new womenswear collection titled Love Triangle. Chanteuse Grace Jones and the film Flash Gordon have a strong influence on the range. Statement pieces include jumpsuits in varying styles, soft kid leather and suede lace up bustiers, high waisted skirts, bustled dresses and futuristic inspired jackets. Strong, tailored shoulders and nipped in waists create a striking silhouette. Embellishments are bountiful on metallic and patent leather with studs of gold and silver against lipstick red, rich turquoise, black and “like a virgin” white. Lurex and stretch jersey keep it stylishly slinky yet comfortable. Ideal for long haul nights across the dance floor. “ We were forever being asked where we get our clothes from. Hence why we’ve decided to create Animal Avenue,” explain both designers, Renee Quast and Lee Lee. “For the moment we’re just having some fun creating clothes that we want but can’t find anywhere.” |
